Wallbarn Universal 95-130mm Paving/Timber Decking Pedestal
Product Description
Looking to create suspended paved or decked surface on a structural deck?
Need extra flexibility on height?
Wallbarn’s Universal Extra adjustable pedestal range for paving and decking have extra long telescopic threads for greater adjustment. They are available in heights from 35mm up to 380mm. They are particularly ideal for porcelain tiles on flat roofs and podiums.
Even flat roofs are built to a small fall to allow adequate drainage. These durable adjustable pedestals have a telescopic stem which allow you to make millimetre-precise manual adjustments in height in order to achieve a flat upper surface.
Universal pedestals are a freestanding system, so no fixings are made through the membrane underneath, ideal for warm roofs and inverted waterproofing systems. They also come with an integrated acoustic shim on the headpiece.
The pedestals create a cavity between the sub-deck and the paving/decking surface which helps ventilate the structure and allows services such as pipes and cables to be hidden from view.
Paving applications
- Positioning lugs create uniform spacing between each slab, allowing rainwater to run between and under the slabs, so no standing water is left on the surface
- Being a suspended system, the weight of the slab holds everything in place
- Height adjustments can be made whilst the slab is in place, saving time and labour
- 10mm high lugs mean they are ideal for supporting thin tiles
- Lugs can be snapped by hand for stretcher bond and irregular laying patterns
Laying decking
- Adjusting the height of the pedestals, rather than cutting furring’s means installers can install decking onto structural decks much more quickly
- Pedestals are adjusted to accommodate the fall in the roof deck
- Placed a maximum of 600mm apart, the joist bearers are simply slotted between the joist holders
- A joist framework is constructed to create a sturdy, stable, weight-bearing surface to take the upper surfacing
- The top decking is then fixed onto the joists using ordinary wood screws or hidden fixings
- Height adjustments can be made whilst the timber joist framework is in place, saving time and labour
- Raising the decking off the sub-deck allows water to drain freely under the decking so there is no standing water left on the surface, preventing ponding and associated slip hazards, and extending the lifespan of the timber.
- Joists are not standing directly on the waterproofing membrane, or insulation, preventing damage to it.
