Product Description
INTRODUCTION
STYCCO SEAL is a one component silicone sealant for use where smooth floorcoverings butt up to non-porous surfaces such as ceramics, glass, metal and many plastics. It is supplied in a cartridge for application from a standard caulking gun and cures, by reacting with moisture in the air, to form a tough, rubbery, waterproof bead. It is resistant to fungus and is suitable for exterior use.
STYCCO SEAL is used for sealing floorcoverings to sanitary ware, ceramic tiles, matwells, pipes, gutters, gulleys etc.
PREPARATION
All surfaces must be sound, dry and free from contaminants which will affect adhesion.
APPLICATION
Fit the cartridge into the applicator gun, cut the seal from the end of the cartridge, screw on the plastic nozzle and cut the nozzle to provide a suitable bead diameter if required. Apply sufficient sealant to fill the gap and wet both joint surfaces, avoiding the formation of voids. Partly used cartridges can be retained from one day to the next. A cured slug of sealant will form in the top of the nozzle, but when this is removed the sealant remaining in the cartridge will be ready for use. In order to obtain sharp, clean edges, use masking tape but remove this immediately after the bead has been spread, before a skin forms.
PRECAUTIONS
A small quantity of acetic acid is emitted as a by-product during curing. This is volatile and disappears after curing is complete but care should be taken in confined spaces. Do not use with materials that bleed oils, plasticisers or solvents.
